This week I completed my state's new training program for mentors. I was already Pathwise trained last year, but now the state has changed over to a different version of mentoring... I have to admit, I do like it. It focuses more on formative activities with your Beginning Teacher rather than summative ones. One particularly interesting handout they gave was this:
I love it because it is so true, even to an extent for veteran teachers.

I like the new mentoring program- especially how I get to just sit down and talk with my mentor. We are meeting this week and going over 4 important goals I have for the rest of this quarter and its nice to have someone to discuss them with, to have feedback, and support. And of the plus side- I don't have to have an official praxis 3 test:o)

Cool! Do you do the collaborative logs and everything? I love the setup of those; they make you structure conversations for good outcomes. And pooie on you for not having to do Praxis III. :) I'm glad I did it and got a lot out of it for sure, but you new teachers aren't under NEARLY enough stress these days not having to worry about your next license hinging on your performance during one particular observation on one particular day. :)
