The speech today, as an event at least, was anti-climactic. I watched it in my classroom alone, despite many students showing interest in bringing their lunches to my room to watch. I think that was the main problem -- the speech's timing straddled two of our three lunch periods, so no matter what it would have been truncated for the students whose teachers DID have it on. Oh well. I will show it to students at some point before the week is over. I was impressed by President Obama's message, and think kids received it well.
And now on to the second part of this post's title: Lucky Students. My dear dear friend who I think of as a little sister started her very first teaching job today! Her students are lucky to have her. Maybe I will sucker her into guest posting now and then... :)
